HONEY’S FULL EXPERIENCE STORY

Since 2018, I have taught a wide range of classes and courses, accumulating nearly a decade of experience in instructing English as a Second Language, English for Academic Purposes, and English Literature. I have worked with both native and non-native speakers across various age groups at multiple institutions. Additionally, I have developed curricula and later advanced to the role of Academic Director at Shayan Language Academy.

ESL Instructor at Shayan Language Academy

January 2018- September 2022

Throughout my career as an English teacher, private tutor, and academic director, I have had the privilege of teaching a wide range of courses to diverse groups of learners. These include basic, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate, advanced, and FCE (First Certificate in English) courses. I have conducted both online and on-site classes, catering to the needs of children, teenagers, and adults.

During my time as a new English teacher , I experienced tremendous personal and professional growth. Alongside my students, I embraced challenges head-on, continuously learning and evolving in the process. By establishing a strong foundation of trust, I earned the respect and confidence of my senior educational supervisor, my students, and their parents. Above all, I achieved something truly rewarding—I instilled a genuine love for the English language in my students' hearts.

As an Academic Director at Shayan Academy, my role extended beyond the classroom, allowing me to shape the educational experience at an institutional level. I had the opportunity to mentor and guide both students and faculty, ensuring a high standard of teaching while fostering a collaborative learning environment. I worked closely with educators to improve student engagement, implement curriculum enhancements, and oversee program effectiveness. A particularly rewarding aspect of my role was conflict resolution, where I mediated concerns between faculty and students, fostering open communication and trust.

It fills me with immense pride to know that some of my students, whom I have had the pleasure of knowing, have chosen to pursue their Bachelor's degrees in the field of English language and literature. They have expressed that the stories and captivating literature pieces I introduced in our classes played a significant role in reshaping their perspective on English literature. Witnessing this transformation brings me immense joy and reinforces my passion for teaching.

It is my belief that through engaging and thought-provoking content, we can ignite a deep appreciation for language and literature, encouraging students to explore their potential and pursue further studies in the field. I am grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on my students' lives and inspire them on their educational journeys

IELTS Instructor and Teacher trainer At IELTS Daily Language College

November 2020- August 2021

Upon successfully obtaining my IELTS certificate, I made a bold decision to embark on a new challenge by enrolling in IELTS teacher training courses. While I often found myself surrounded by colleagues who possessed more knowledge and experience in this area, I resolved to trust in my own abilities for once. Fortunately, I discovered that my belief was well-founded, and I was able to thrive.

Teaching IELTS criteria to my students became a passion and a source of pride. It was a journey that required me to take risks and step out of my comfort zone. This period marked a significant turning point in my career, as I proved to myself that I could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the brilliant educators in the field of IELTS instruction. This realization was not only a personal triumph but also a tremendous achievement.

I am pleased to share a picture of myself alongside my esteemed colleagues at one of the finest IELTS academies in my home country, Iran. This snapshot captures the camaraderie and shared dedication to excellence that characterized our professional journey together.

Embarking on the path of IELTS teaching was indeed a risk, but it led to a magnificent achievement that I will always cherish. It is a testament to the power of belief in oneself and the willingness to step outside of our comfort zones in pursuit of our goals.

Instructor & Academic Lead (Head Department)

at Gateway College

July 2023-Present

After refining my vision as an educator and leader, I joined Gateway College, where I began with a small group of four students and gradually grew the program to over twelve through consistent student success and trust. In my role, I teach English for Specific Purposes (ESP), English as a Second Language (ESL), and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) to Health Care Assistant and Caregiver students, focusing on building their language proficiency, professional communication skills, and confidence for real-world healthcare settings. Alongside instruction, I take on an academic leadership role where I support and guide instructors by reviewing lesson plans, mentoring their teaching approaches, and ensuring that learning is individualized, practical, and aligned with student needs. I regularly work closely with both educators and students to identify learning gaps, adjust strategies, and improve overall program effectiveness. My role also involves facilitating communication between students, instructors, and leadership, maintaining structured learning processes, and contributing to continuous improvements in curriculum and delivery. Through this experience, I have developed a strong ability to balance teaching, leadership, and coordination while creating a supportive, student-centered, and high-quality learning environment.

English as a Second Language Instructor at Tamwood Summer Camp- UBC

June 2025-August 2025

This summer, I intentionally chose to immerse myself in a dynamic, youth-centered teaching environment to reconnect with strategies and techniques specific to working with young learners. I joined Tamwood Summer Camp, and it turned out to be a rewarding and enriching experience.

Teaching ESL to students aged 11 to 17, across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, allowed me to refine my classroom management skills and adapt my teaching style to a variety of language needs and learning preferences. While the preparation was intensive, it was absolutely worth it—seeing my students engaged, laughing, and learning made every moment valuable.

One of the highlights was the rich cultural exchange. I had the opportunity to work with and learn from staff and students from Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and Taiwan. I even picked up a few new words from different languages, and we shared meaningful insights about our cultures.

This experience not only strengthened my ESL teaching toolkit but also reminded me why I like working with youth—their energy, curiosity, and openness are truly inspiring.
